A Lifetime of Learning

Stories, Insights, and Lessons I've Learned Along the Way

ABOUT
I am a lifelong learner, reader, and writer who believes deeply in ethics, integrity, and personal responsibility. I have always been curious about why people think the way they do and how everyday choices shape our lives, our communities, and the world around us. That curiosity continues to guide how I read, write, and stay engaged with current events, history, and the people I meet.

Like many, I find the current moment in our country challenging and, at times, unsettling. It has reinforced my belief in the importance of character, honesty, and thoughtful reflection. Rather than turning away, I try to stay informed and remain grounded in the values that have guided my life.

For many years my focus was providing for my family. I worked hard, often holding two jobs, so that my wife, Ann, could stay home and care for our five children. Those years were shaped by responsibility, sacrifice, and a commitment to doing what was right. Ann passed away in 2017 and her loss marked a turning point in my life. From that moment on, I began living more intentionally and on my own terms.

Today, I spend my time reading, writing, and staying engaged with the world. I enjoy history, current events, and sports—especially Notre Dame—and I am rarely without a book or a letter in progress. I continue to reach out where I can, offering practical help, encouragement, and support.

Everything I share here comes from a simple desire to be helpful and to leave the world a little better than I found it.

Golf Lessons I Learned by Teaching Others Practical Tips for Learning, Improving, and Enjoying the Game

Golf Lessons I Learned by Teaching Others Practical Tips for Learning, Improving, and Enjoying the Game

When Ken Jacobson retired to a golf community, he noticed a steady decline in golf association membership. Many new homeowners had never played the game. Rather than accept the trend, Ken began offering free golf lessons to anyone interested in learning or improving their skills. What started as a simple idea grew into years of teaching, during which Ken introduced more than 1,000 people to golf—helping strengthen the golf association and preserve the community course. Over time, he compiled his most effective lessons, tips, and techniques into a practical collection drawn from years of teaching and insights learned from multiple golf professionals. Golf Lessons I Learned by Teaching Others is a practical, experience-based guide for beginners and recreational golfers. It focuses on building confidence, understanding the fundamentals, and enjoying the game—without pressure or intimidation. Designed to be used, revisited, and shared, this book reflects a belief that golf should be accessible, enjoyable, and sustaining for the communities built around it.
